We are the Depression Recovery Trust and we are setting up a new mental health Centre in the heart of Wellington
Called the Wellington Depression Recovery Centre, it will significantly enhance the treatment available to people with depression, anxiety and other common debilitating forms of mental illness.
We are currently building the Centre and plan to open in 2024.
Depression is one of the leading causes of disability in our country
Depression devastates thousands of individuals and their whᾱnau every year, stripping them of their ability to live full lives and negatively affecting family, friendships and work. Mental illness costs our country billions in lost productivity.
People struggle to get the help they need
Currently, there are very few treatment options for individuals suffering from moderate to severe depression. If we don’t lift capacity and create more effective treatment options for this group in particular, depression will continue to leave people vulnerable and without hope.
Our Solution
We are establishing a therapeutic day programme for people with moderate to severe mental health issues. People will attend for six weeks and during this time they will receive a range of personalised evidence-based treatments and support. The Centre will serve approximately 300 people per year.
